Ayal is a Managing Partner in Pitango First, focusing on early-stage companies aiming at disrupting the way software is built, used, and deployed, transforming traditional industries with data, and enabling new economies. In addition, he’s intrigued by frontier technologies, such as Quantum Computing and Space-Tech. He has a special fetish for productivity tools, and is willing to try almost any tool that has a promising potential.

In his entrepreneurship tenure, Ayal has founded and served as the CEO of Convergin, a Pitango portfolio company, that was transforming how telco communication networks are built. The company was acquired by Oracle in 2010, after which Ayal took up the role of a corporate vice president at Oracle.

Ayal earned his PhD in Computer Science from the Technion before the age of 25. He then became a faculty member at New York University, working on breakthrough technologies some of which have become the foundations of what is known today as Cloud Computing.

Ayal serves on the Board of Directors of: Frontegg, Nexite, Zapata Computing, as well as i3 equity partners, and in the past on Pitango Portfolio company ParallelM (acquired by Datarobot).
Along with his involvement in entrepreneurship and investments Ayal has served on various boards and advisory boards, including the Technion’s Computer Science Department Industry Advisory Board, SpaceIL, and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
