Here are a couple of tips for effective communication with the creator, written by StreamElements Champion "); background-size: 1px 1px; background-position: 0px calc(1em + 1px);" target="_blank">Anne Dorko:

  1. Rates. Let them know what your budget is right away. They will let you know what you can afford out of their services.
  2. Timeline. If you are trying to have something ready by a certain date or event, let them know. Be prepared to pay a rush fee if you need something done ASAP.
  3. Examples. Provide specific examples of what you want. This could be video, stream clips, graphics, or audio depending on what you are commissioning. Explain what you do or do not like in the examples.
  4. Goals. Identify what your goals are for the commission. For example, if you are commissioning emotes, think about when you want your chat to use them. Identifying your goals for the commission will help the person you’re hiring get on the same page as you.
  5. Communication. Be clear and descriptive. Have patience. Do your best to provide context at all times. Treat the person’s time with respect. They are offering you their unique skills and talents to help you succeed. If you have expectations, communicate them as soon as possible. If you are unclear about something, ask your question right away.

When you get your new designs or custom features, be sure to give a shout out to the creator on social media :)

Here are a couple of tips for creating your gigs:

  1. Create a separate gig for each different service you offer, e.g. emote design, overlays, widget development, etc.
  2. Give each gig a descriptive title; include important details about the work in the gig’s description.
  3. Show past examples from your portfolio that are relevant to the specific gig.
